We have had a good run lately with Cowl Drape styles and this week is no exception with the Cowl Back Tee. Last week was the Vivienne Drape Dress featuring a Cowl Drape on the neckline and in the skirt. And two weeks ago a reworking of The Drape Shift in a woven fabric for The Drape Shift - Woven. You might say we are coming at the #CowlDrape thing from all directions.
All the pattern making instructions have been moved to the website blog. :)
I was just looking in your archives for a drape back tee like this. The only question I have is can I make this with set in long sleeves? It's winter here after all!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thx for dropping by. Yes indeed you can make this style with any pattern that has a loose fit. A slightly oversized shirt pattern would easily convert. :)
DeleteThanks. I'm not kidding when I said that I was looking in the archives and then, low and behold there it is in the latest post. I am going on vacation, but then I come back this is going to be my next drafting project.
DeleteThx Nancy. Wishing you a wonderful holiday. I am looking forward to seeing your version in the new year. :)
DeleteThank you Anita for another inspiring post! I wait for Monday mornings to see what Studio Faro will produce :-) A question - do you think this would work with jersey? Any adaptations I should keep in mind if I try it with a drapey rayon knit? :-) Maria
ReplyDeleteHi Maria, thx for dropping by. Yes this could work in a knit. Start with a loose fit knit block/pattern and make the same changes. Drapey rayon often has spandex and is therefore two way stretch. If so, then the top may grow in length after making. I have experienced 6-10 cm length growth (that is longer than the card pattern) with some rayon knits. Probably best results with a one-way stretch rayon knit (no spandex). Hope this helps. :)
